ABOUT PRIESTHORPE SCHOOL
Priesthorpe is a popular and over-subscribed community Specialist
Sports College of 1200 students, 160 of whom are in the Sixth Form.
The school is situated in LS28 close to the boundary between Leeds
and Bradford. Most of our students come from Farsley, Stanningley,
Pudsey and Calverley, with a further 20% from Bradford.
Priesthorpe School is one of three Pudsey Schools which together
make up the Pudsey Consortium
which shares post-16 provision, giving opportunities to students
to study a wider range of subjects. We offer a broad and balanced
curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4 and are committed to enabling our
students to choose a learning programme which suits them, with ever
increasing vocational opportunities.
There is a vast array of additional school activities and we are
proud of our tradition of performance in Sport, Drama and Music.
As a Specialist Sports College
we provide the focal point of much of the sporting activity in our
community, as well as that in local primary and secondary schools.
We are proud to have achieved the Investors in People award and
the Inclusion Chartermark.
Our excellent staff are professional and caring, with a common
determination to work together to raise standards and achievement
at all levels in Public Examinations, with many gaining places at
University and college. We celebrate success, recognising and rewarding
the hard work and achievements through merits, certificates, post
cards, presentation assemblies and special reward trips.
We are recognised as a friendly and caring school. At Priesthorpe
each student is assigned to a tutor and Head of Year with whom they
will usually remain for five years. The tutors and Heads of Year
work closely with students and their families, monitoring progress
and offering support and guidance. There is a highly proactive School
Council which meets regularly and forms an essential part of
the whole school consultation process.
We welcome visitors at any time during the working day. To find
out more about the school please contact
the school office to arrange an appointment.
