TEXTILES

Year 8

In Year 8 pupils get the opportunity of making a tie, a container or a musical toy. Although the academic process is fairly similar to that of Year 7, the techniques learnt are very different. The techniques and processes are more advanced, in particular using the CAD/CAM embroidery machine, and the final product is of a higher quality. Research is more directly related to the end product.

Many Year 8 pupils enjoy textiles because it gives them a chance to work more practically than in other subjects, and they also learn how to create things from their imagination. There is a 'fun' element as pupils become aware of how things work and what is expected of them.
