CONTENT:
During Year 7 each student studies the following:
- Introduction
to Christianity, Sikhism & Judaism
- History
of the three religions
- Founders
of Judaism - Abraham and Moses
- Jesus
of Nazareth - his life and death
- Guru
Nanak
- The life
of a a Sikh
Year
8
COURSE CONTENT:
During Year 8 students will cover the following themes:
- Judaism
: Jewish family life; food rules; the Mezuzah; special items of clothing;
the Synagogue, the building and forms of worship.
- Christianity
: Denominations; the Church building and its place in the community;
the work of a Minister.
- Islam
: The Five Pillars of the religion; the Mosque; Muslim family life;
the Quran.
Year
9
COURSE CONTENT:
During Year 9 students will study the following themes:
- Faith
in Action : the work of groups and charities, such as the Salvation
Army and Christian Aid, and of individuals, such as Mother Teresa and
Bob Geldof.
- Rites
of Passage : the ceremonies which mark stages in life, such as Baptism
and Bar Mitzvah, Marriage and Death.
- A range
of religious festivals from the Christian, Jewish and Sikh traditions
: Passover, Baisakhi, Easter, etc.
