Home Sports Day 2004 Gallery Records: Boys Girls

This year's Sports Day was special in many ways. Owing to extensive work on the field drainage system, it was the first Sports Day in two years. It was therefore the first Sports Day for Year 7 and Year 8, as well for many staff who are new to Priesthorpe.

Sports Day is a well-established event on the calendar at Priesthorpe, and the quality of performances continues to improve. We were looking for new records in one or two areas. Records have been broken in recent years by a range of athletes. Leeds Rhinos' Jamie Jones Buchanan saw his 100m record broken by Phill Jackson in 2001. This year, the Year 8 boys' javelin and the Year 9 girls' 300m records were broken!

The strength of the event is the number of participants. Some five hundred pupils took part as athletes on Sports Day, a magnificent achievement by our students.

Well done, everyone!
