Rockwoods
Thank you to all for helping us to improve the situation regarding the Rockwoods entrance and the traffic congestion we experience. The anti-clockwise, ‘one-way’ system works well (for further details, click here).

It is important that all associated with the school are sensitive to the needs of the local residents, particularly regarding parking. The footpaths in the area are currently being repaired—the damage has been done by cars.

You will be aware that the Police do monitor the situation regularly.

Building Schools for the Future
Contrary to any rumours, the school is still engaged in the BSF process. A £15million scheme is due to start later this year.

However, it is true that there have been some technical and structural issues, which have delayed the scheme.

We hope to be able to provide further details about timescales soon.

Keep Kids Safe
Don’t forget to use the absence reporting numbers (below) to let us know reasons for your child’s absence. If we don’t have a reason recorded for an absence you may receive an automated text or phone call asking for an explanation.

Healthy Schools
We are working hard to gain National Healthy Schools and Wellbeing Status. The health of young people has never attracted so much attention and the Government has issued guidelines and standards for food and drink in schools. We will shortly be sending home a leaflet that explains the recommendations we have been asked to follow, along with useful information about healthy eating and drinking.

We ask, in the meantime, that you support us by encouraging your son/daughter to choose healthy options in food and drink whenever possible and, in particular, we ask that you do not send cans of fizzy drinks into school.

Year 8 Residentials
Residential leaders are now in the process of booking activities and they urgently need any outstanding payments. Please could all Year 8 pupils ensure that the total cost of the trip (£50) is paid in full as soon as possible.

I would like to remind parents that the Residential Parents’ Evening will take place on Monday 16th June at 7pm. This evening will give parents the opportunity to meet residential leaders and ask any questions they may have about the trips.

Miss Nicholas
Assistant Headteacher
