PRIESTHORPE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
JANUARY 2008

In this issue:

Message from Mr Hall
I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter. I am afraid we did have to keep it short so that we could get it out before half term. You will appreciate that Easter is very early this year, with half-terms of just five weeks.

My previous local authority has now switched to the ‘six term year’. This means that they break for the Easter weekend, but then return to school for a further two weeks before they have their spring holiday - which is ‘fixed’ each year. I wonder what you, as parents, would feel about this arrangement, if introduced in Leeds?

I hope that you are aware of changes to school routines (mentioned below), particularly the closures next week (before half-term). These are for staff training, accounted for out of our CPD time. As I have mentioned in previous newsletters, overall there has been an increase in actual teaching time at Priesthorpe School this year compared to previous years.

On February 6th our Training Day is being led by Andy Vass, a leading consultant on classroom practice and someone who has worked with us before.

This newsletter describes some of the activities going on at school - but there is not enough space to cover items such as the highly successful ‘Holocaust Drama’ or ‘Champion’ events.

Perhaps we can include them in our next newsletter, when we can also report on some of the forthcoming school visits.

Mr Hall
