Message from Mr Hall

I am delighted to report that our recent Ofsted Inspection went very well!
We know that, as a school, we can always improve, but it is equally important to have our efforts recognised.

Overall the school was graded as a ‘satisfactory school with some good features.’ Results, it said, were ‘around the national average’. The team went on to say that they recognised it as an ‘improving school’ and that the capacity to improve is ‘good’.

We think that this is a fair report—confirming the hard work that has gone in to the improvements over the last few years and giving us encouragement for the future.

Parents will shortly receive a copy of the report, which will also be available on the Ofsted web-site - for further details, click here. Ofsted also write a letter to all students, which we shall be distributing shortly.

Mr K Hall
Headteacher

Open Evening
As you are probably aware, this takes place on Wednesday 10th October.
In previous years the school has been closed for the day - on this occasion normal lessons will take place until 12.30pm, when pupils will be dismissed.

Although we did notify parents of the day, we had not made it clear what our specific arrangements were. My apologies for this. Pupils had, however, been informed of the arrangements.

Please note the early closure on 13th November, and also the Target Setting Day on 22nd November, followed by a school closure on 23rd November.

I explained about training days and early closures in my previous newsletter - I know that sometimes they do cause inconvenience to parents. However, it is probably worth pointing out that, since the new School Day was introduced in September, the length of the teaching week has increased by 50 minutes. So, even allowing for the occasional early closure, there has been no overall decrease in the teaching time our students receive.
