Year 7 Multi-Sport Events
This term all Year 7 pupils who attend one of the seven secondary schools within the Priesthorpe School Sport Partnership will be given the opportunity to attend a multi-sport event which will be run at a variety of venues across West Leeds. Secondary Schools will be paired up with a school of similar size and will compete as a year group against the other school in a variety of sports such as rounders, softball, football and tennis.

One of the aims of the Priesthorpe School Sport Partnership is to increase the number of young people competing in inter-school competition to 50% by 2008. With ever increasing pressures and demands on young people’s time, this is proving very difficult in secondary schools, and the Year 7 multi-sport event is seen as a way of addressing this.

The emphasis for the event is on fun competition and participation, and we hope to motivate the young people at a time when some children start dropping out of sport. Many traditional competitions only provide competitive opportunities for a handful of children and at a time when our country is gearing up towards the 2012 Olympics and trying to encourage mass participation, an all inclusive event is just what is required!

We hope the events will be a great success and will become part of the annual competition calendar in years to come!
