PRIESTHORPE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
APRIL 6TH 2006

Dear Parents,

Friday 7th April is the last day of term. We are going to break up a little bit earlier than we usually do at Easter. School is going to end at 3pm to enable us to say our farewells to Mrs Christine Marsden.

Mrs Marsden is leaving us to take up a new post with Education Leeds as an Adviser in Business and Enterprise. She will be working with schools to ensure that government initiatives are put into practice.

We will not lose touch with her and she has very kindly agreed to support her Year 11 Business Studies groups through until their exams.

We will miss her dynamic personality; Mrs Marsden has been a key player in our drive to raise standards.

Friday is also a non-uniform day. We ask that each pupil and member of staff donate £1 in support of two very worthy charities: Martin House and CFSN (Cystinosis Family Support Network; cystinosis is a rare genetic disease that primarily affects children). The two charities will share the money we raise.

'No school uniform' does not mean outlandish dress; anything extreme will result in pupils being sent home to change.

We return on Monday 24th April but please note that Friday 28th April is a Training Day, so no pupils will be in school. The following Monday is the May Day Holiday.

In early May Year 9 students take their SATs and Year 10 start their internal exams.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Easter.

Yours sincerely,

Clive Pickles
Headteacher
