PRIESTHORPE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
MARCH 24th 2006

Dear Parents,

I would like to draw your attention to a number of issues that we feel need addressing and reinforcing with our pupils.

We ask that pupils do not bring valuable items into school including mobile phones, MP3 players, PSPs, etc.

There are a number of reasons for not permitting these in school. However, one that you should be aware of is the growing concern we have in relation to theft.

Over recent months thefts in school have been on the increase and in order to avoid/reduce temptation and opportunity we would appreciate your support in this matter.

Continuing to strive for high standards in relation to uniform and dress is another area we would like to reinforce. Therefore we would remind pupils of the following and would appreciate your support:

  • School sweatshirts should be the only jumpers/sweatshirts in classrooms. These should be worn and should not be tied around waists.
  • Belts should only be worn to hold up trousers and should be plain black.
  • Shirts/blouses should be long enough to tuck in.
  • Baseball caps are not allowed in school, and trainers should only be used for PE.

We believe it is important for our pupils to conform to the expected standard of dress in order to maintain a positive and well-disciplined community.

We would appreciate, where appropriate, you discussing the relevant issues with your son/daughter and thus helping us to maintain consistency on these matters.

Yours sincerely,
Miss P Nicholas
