BUSINESS

Ms Newsome accompanied a group of seven Year 12 AVCE and AS Business students to the Bank of England "Investment Challenge", whereby students had to buy and sell on the Stock Exchange.

This was a fast-moving highly interactive day and although neither of our groups won, they thoroughly enjoyed the event.

GEOGRAPHY

It seems that everyone has been out and about doing fieldwork! Year 11 AS students have just returned from a residential trip to the Cranedale Centre in North Yorkshire. They've collected lots of data and are currently writing up their environmental investigations. Year 10s have spent two days visiting the Hole of Horcum and Goathland in the North Yorkshire Moors. They stayed overnight near Robin Hoods Bay and are now experts on the impacts of tourism on National Parks! Closer to home our Year 8 Geographers have visited the Greenfly Business Park as part of their unit on 'Where People Work'.

It's coming into the exam season. Year 11 Geographers can use Thursday revision sessions to help with exam preparation. It's been great to see lots of students attending so far.

Active Reading
Year 7 and 8 Book Club has been very busy recently!
On April 14th, we took the bus to a "drop-in" session at The West Yorkshire Playhouse in anticipation of our trip to watch 'The Odyssey' in May. We chatted to the actors and asked them all sorts of questions about the production and the profession. We were even allowed to walk onto the set (and nearly lost someone down the trapdoor!) All the pupils behaved fantastically and were a credit to Priesthorpe School.

We are also getting involved in the Carnegie Shadowing Scheme to tie in with the famous Children's Book Awards. We will be reading books from the shortlist and sharing our opinions on them as well as voting for our favourite riveting read for the regional winner. Years 7 and 8 Book Club meets every Thursday, 3.15pm - 4.15pm and new members are always welcome.

UFO's ARE A FARCE!
UFO's are a farce. They don't exist. There is no evidence to suggest that they do. And there never will be. The government told me that the Roswell Incident was a crash landing by Apollo 15. They just did it to make the humans more aware and have little excitement in their boring and miserable lives.

The crop circles were only some stupid teenager playing practical jokes on a miserable farmer. I have to say, it was a pretty good joke played by them.

I'm glad that we both believe that ALIENS DON'T EXIST!

If you want more information about WHY they don't, call 0800 399999. Phone to be forever haunted!

UFO's - REAL or UNREAL?
Yesterday another five people came forward saying they had seen a UFO. The fact that three hundred people a year claim they have seen one, will soon rise to more than four hundred. However, do unidentified flying objects REALLY exist?

Scientists have gone mad trying to prove they DO NOT! One scientist says, "They do not exist! How do you know that you or your friend saw a UFO? It most probably was an aeroplane or a helicopter!" There are scientific facts and reasons that totally agree with this. Furthermore, many people who have reported that they have seen a UFO, say that they are being rewarded by God…… These people are being questioned by famous scientists who are trying to persuade these loony people with proof, that UFO's DO NOT EXIST!

However, does anyone dare to question the millionaire who wishes not to be named? The man with the money claims 'UFO's DO NOT EXIST! I have seen one land in my garden and I have seen strange, hieroglyphic pictures that were engraved on a piece of metal which I found in the place that the UFO landed in my garden. THEY DO EXIST!'

AN UNUSUAL SIGHT!
Yesterday a night watchman reported that he'd seen a flying saucer hovering above the Transylvanian Alps in Romania. He said shakily, 'It was a huge silvery disc, zooming from the north to the east. It had some strange coloured lights dancing around it. I was terrified!'

The night watchman had seen the mysterious object moving through the sky wearily, as if deciding where to go. After watching it for approximately five minutes, it suddenly shot downwards towards land like a falling star. Mr Drake was very shocked by this sighting and it caused him to have a panic attack. The sighting was on the 14th May 2005. This morning villagers walked to the place where Mr Drake thought he had seen the UFO land.

Scientists and an Investigation Team from Bucharest University were sent to investigate the scene early this morning. They have measured the imprints, photographed the site and taken some samples of soil and vegetation for analysis. What do you think?
