PRIESTHORPE IS
When I first came here I was quite scared as it was very big and there
were so many people. After a week or so of getting lost I found every
classroom and I enjoyed the lessons especially Art. I also enjoyed Interform
dance; we won!

I remember when I started Priesthorpe; I was really frightened. I got
lost loads of times. About two weeks into the year I was finding my
way around very easily and I wasn't getting lost anymore. Over the year
I got 120 merits and no bad notes or letters in my Planner. I got seven
Letters of Praise. I liked the school the first time I saw it.

Hello, my name is Hannah Emilia Housam. I am 12 years old and have
no brothers or sisters. I live in Wortley and went to Five Lanes Primary
School.
I have lots of hobbies and interests. The things I like to do best are
going horse riding and helping out at a stables. I love horses and I
feel really happy when I am around them. I also like listening to music
and playing the piano.
Priesthorpe is very different from my old school because it is a lot
bigger and is full of a lot more people! I really like the fact that
it is so much bigger (I don't know why!) and there are always people
on the corridors that help you to your lessons. I like the uniform -
it's a lot better than the last uniform I had! I like having a lot more
lessons than I had before because it makes things more interesting!
On my first day I cried my eyes out at home in the morning! I was really
scared that all the teachers and other kids would hate me and I'd always
forget my homework and get detention! I had a really good time, though,
and even made a new friend called Katie! Then I cried at home afterwards
because I thought Mr Pickles would find something in my report that
suggested I was awful (there isn't anything!) then I would be suspended!
But he didn't and I had a lovely second day.
My favourite lessons so far have to be French, Geography, Drama, History
and PE. I like French because I have learnt the basics of
Person 1: Salut!
P2: Bonjour!
P1: Comment t'appelles tu?
P2: Je m'appelle Claire! Et toi?
P1: Je m'appelle Adam! ça va?
P2: Ça va bien merci! Et toi?
P1: Ça va bien! Au revoir!
P2: Au revoir Adam!
I think I will enjoy Priesthorpe because the teachers are lovely and
even though it is huge, I know I won't get lost after another couple
of weeks!

LAUGHTER & TEARS AT THE THEATRE
A group of sixth formers and staff visited West Yorkshire Playhouse
to see a production by Knee High Theatre Company. 'The Bacchae' was
a wonderful remaking of the Greek play by Euripides. The play was at
times hilariously funny but towards the end was so tense and exciting
I felt my stomach tighten in knots! They used music and cabaret to present
the drama, which was enhanced by an excellent stage set. A thoroughly
enjoyable evening.
EURODISNEY HOLIDAY
I went to Eurodisney and it was wicked. We went on Sunday 25th August
and came back on Wednesday. We stayed in a 4 star hotel, then we went
sight seeing. On the 27th we all went to the Theme Park and we got to
explore all the rides. At 11.00am we watched the big parade and it was
fabulous. Then we set off home back through the Euro tunnel and the
night. I wish we could go again. Thanks to Mr Saimbhi for setting the
trip up and the rest of the staff for being great!

When we went to Paris and we went sightseeing it was really good. We
saw the Eiffel Tower and some of the greatest buildings I have ever
seen. The next day we went to Disneyland studios where we watched a
stunt car show. We also went on a rock' n roller coaster.

When I went to Eurodisney the best ride was Space Mountain and Rockin
Rollercoster. It was a long journey there and a long journey back, but
worth it!

LOST PROPERTY
After only a month of the term we already have a mountain of lost property
including PE kit, coats, etc. VERY LITTLE LOST PROPERTY IS EVER CLAIMED.
Please ask your children to check with the main office/caretaker if
they have lost items in school. You would be amazed at the amount of
your property we have to dispose of because it is unnamed or unclaimed.

DELIVERING AND COLLECTING CHILDREN
I realise that many parents deliver and collect their children at the
Rockwoods Road entrance to school. As you can appreciate, between 8.15
- 8.45am and 3.00 - 3.15pm this causes particular problems for our Rockwoods
neighbours.
We must not block drives or double park and we must allow emergency
services access to the area.
In order to ease the traffic flow problems please either park a short
distance from the Rockwood path entrance/exit or follow the 'voluntary'
one-way system outlined on the map shown here.
Many thanks in anticipation of us all working together to ease this
traffic problem.
