ICT is taught in four main ICT suites: Room15, Room16, Room23 and T6. Each of these rooms contains 25 computers all running Windows XP on CC3 (RM's networking system). Computers are used in other areas of the school as well. Business Studies has a suite of computers, the OLC has 30 computers which run Windows 98 and also we now have a vocational room and a PE room both boasting a full suite of computers. Careers, Food Technology and Science all have computers, including Physics, which has its own stand alone computers. Many departments are investing in data projectors to enhance teaching opportunities. New computers are also planned for the tower block to improve ICT provision throughout the school.

Software that is used within the ICT department:

  • Microsoft Office Professional (Full suite, Word, Publisher, Access, Excel, PowerPoint )
  • Dreamweaver MX (Multimedia software for Website design)
  • Fireworks (Works with Dreamweaver and can create animated images)
  • Flash (Needed in Web development and e-portfolio work)
  • Paint Shop Pro (Image enhancer)
  • Pinpoint and Viewpoint (Alternative database software)
  • Serif Draw Plus 7 (Graphics package that allows image manipulation and animation)
  • Imagine Logo (a control technology software that allows onscreen programming)
  • Crystal Rain Forest & Mission Control ( control technology software that allows onscreen programming – new versions)
  • Encarta (this is a full Encyclopeadia available in the four main rooms and the library)
  • Flowol (control technology software that allows onscreen programming) forthcoming
  • Paint ( a graphics manipulation software)
  • GCSE Online (a revision guide for all GCSE pupils to learn the theory)
