The suite of three Art rooms are located in the A-block, opposite the main school building. One of these classrooms is used by the Sixth Form Art A-level students as a studio.

In Art lessons at all Key Stages, a wide variety of art materials and techniques are used to encourage students to develop their skills and creativity. All practical projects are integrated with research and analysis of the work of established artists and the traditions of many cultures and periods. Each pupil has a sketchbook in which classwork and regularly set homework is carried out. Pupils of all Key Stages are invited to join the Art Club which, this year, takes place on Wednesday lunchtimes.

Key Stage 3 groups are regularly taken out to experience 'live' Art in the Galleries at Cartwright Hall in Bradford and Leeds City Art Gallery. AS and A-Level students make regular visits to Art Galleries both as part of homework tasks and as an extension to their Art lessons. There is also an annual visit to the national galleries in London for Year 11 and Sixth-Form students. The Art department also employs the talents of local artists through the 'Artists in Schools' scheme run by the LEA to give our pupils a sense of the energy and dynamic which can be captured through the creative process.

Our most talented artists are given the chance to attend masterclasses and contribute to the Annual Wedge Art Exhibition involving the seven schools in the West Leeds 'Gifted and Talented' Network.

We were very pleased to host the latest exhibition in the Summer Term, 2005.

The excellent quality of pupils' finished work can be seen in displays all around the school, in the Visitors' Reception, the Expressive Arts Corridor in the Drive Block, the Hall, the Dining Room and the Gallery outside the Head Teacher's Office, as well as in the Art classrooms and around the corridors of the buildings.
