RECOMMENDED READING

Pupils are encouraged to develop reading skills within the curriculum through the study of texts and set books. The value of reading as an individual pastime is also actively promoted through the ERIC (Everyone Reading In Class) scheme, with pupils, and staff, being encouraged to spend some form time reading for pleasure.

Pupils who read at home, whether extensively or not, will also benefit from the additional practice and experience which this activity brings. Not just reading skills are developed, but also a sense of grammar, style and construction. Reading stimulates the imagination and promotes reflection.

If you are looking for 'a good read', go to one of the Recommended Reading pages for your Year group for some ideas. You will find most, if not all, of the titles available for loan from the Open Learning Centre. There is more to be found in the library than books which can help you with homework. Put your ticket to good use and get out something to enjoy when your homework is done!.
